Northport – Putting Maine’s veterans to work.
That is the goal of an initiative that’s being spearheaded by Paul and Ann LePage..
“Hiring 100 vets into 100 jobs in 100 days” said the First Lady.
A diverse group gathering at point lookout in Northport Thursday.
Retired US Army Colonel David Sutherland, the keynote speaker, rallying the troops.
Viewing the day as a chance to get the people who can exact change in a room together.
“There’s just some things that government can’t do that independent organizations can” said Sutherland
LePage added “This group is doing this and this group is doing that but nobody knows what each other is doing, so this is a chance for all of the groups to get toghether and all be on the same page.”
The hope is that prospective employers will take in to account candidates military background, but understand that each person is different.
