ELLSWORTH – Although the Affordable Care Act was put in place in order to help those who do not have health insurance, many people in Maine have not been able to receive these benefits. The Ellsworth Free Medical Clinic helps by providing free medical help, but are running out of funds to keep the Non Profit alive.
The Ellsworth Free Medical Clinic faces closure if they do not get more donations. The 23-year-old Non Profit does not ask for any money from those who come, its only requirement is that its patients have no medical insurance, helping those who can not apply for the Affordable Care Act.
Over the years the donations have dwindled, making it harder and harder to cover various costs. Doctors and nurses generously donate their time to the clinic, but it still has been difficult to accommodate the growing number of patients.. Luckily due to a few recent generous donations, the clinic will stay open for as long as possible
The clinic is always looking for help as well as doctors and nurses willing to donate their time. Patients are asked to give a small contribution, but the clinic still insists upon its free medicine and care for those in need.
