BANGOR – A very soggy day here in the Bangor region as rain clouds move across the area. There’s a lot of localized flooding, but no major problems to report by noon on Wednesday.
The rain has caused large puddles to form on roadways throughout the area. Drivers are being warned to be extra careful as they travel today. People are also being urged to remove their vehicles from Kenduskeag plaza by one oclock. The arrival of high tide could cause water to rise in the flood prone area. The speed limit has also been lowered on the interstate to help keep the highway safe. Flood watches remain in effect for much of the state with more rain expected as the day rolls along. Fishermen are also being kept busy along the coast where they’ve been either removing boats or making sure they don’t take on a lot of water. More severe flooding is reported in the southern part of the state. That includes Portland where rising water is reported in the Old port section of the city. Some vehicles have also become partially submerged in areas where the water has risen.
