It’s one of the tastiest weekends of the year, and people from all over Maine and New England head to creameries around the state, hoping to sample various cheeses for the Maine Cheese Guild.
The Maine cheese guild held its open creamery day, allowing Mainers to come and visit some of Maine’s best cheese makers. Seal Cove Farm is one of many farms that is part of the association. The Maine Cheese Guild was started in order to promote Maine cheese and Maine cheese makers, with an emphasis on education to the public, giving local crafters the publicity needed to continue creating their cheese.
One of Seal Cove Farms main attractions is their pizza which is made using a brick oven, built on the farm. The secret to their great tasting pizzas are the ingredients that they use, all of them coming from their farm, or neighboring farms. The most important part of the pizza though?
The feta. Its made from the goats on the farm, giving the pizza the fresh taste that many come to try.
