DIXFIELD – A car crash on Route 2 in Dixfield is under investigation this morning. An elderly man is dead, his wife is in critical condition.
This is where police say 86-year-old “Paul Stucki” from Winslow crossed the center line while driving and hit another car head on yesterday evening, he died.
Today word spread quickly about the deadly crash throughout this small town.
“It’s always sad to hear when something like that happens, any time.” Ed Naples, Dixfield Resident
Police say his 79-year-old wife Joyce is in critical condition at Central Maine Medical Center and two women in the other car involved including the driver suffered multiple fractures.
They’re both from Wisconsin and officials say they’re expected to be ok. None of the victims are locals but people say still…

Police say the driver of a third vehicle turned out of the way just in time. Investigators aren’t sure why Stucki went over the yellow line.
While they keep working to figure that out bits of debris and glass can still be seen scattered along the road.

Right now investigators are ruling out alcohol, drugs and speed as possible factors. The crash happened right near this intersection which residents say has a reputation for being a bad spot.
Some wonder if that had a role to play.
