PALMYRA – The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department reports it was around 1:50 this morning when a deputy noticed some headlights coming toward her in the northbound lanes of I-95.
Turns out it was a vehicle being driven by 27 year old Miranda Doherty of Palmyra. The deputy says she turned on her blue lights and swerved to avoid a collision with Doherty’s vehicle. Other units were called in and the vehicle was stopped a short time later.
Officials say it was clear Doherty was intoxicated and a breathalyzer test showed she had twice the legal limit for alcohol in her bloodstream.
She’s now charged with OUI, driving to endanger and failure to stop for an officer.
