Bangor– If a chemical agent is detected in a public venue, the National Guard is called in to test the area. The 11th Civil Support team was training in the Cross Center early Wednesday morning to prepare for natural or man made disasters.
The training sessions are designed to mimic real life scenarios, and members of the team were conducting a survey to discover the extent of the contamination, and discuss what measures need to be made to keep the public safe in this scenario
Many teams make up the national guard, and the training today was practicing the coordination between their communication, medical and survey teams.
Although no actual chemical agents are involved, the team still suits up
The national guard works with many first responders from around the state to make sure that we are kept safe every night
