BANGOR – A reminder from fire officials this morning as we turn our clocks back an hour Sunday.
You’re encouraged to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. The National Fire Protection Association says 3 out of 5 fire deaths occur with smoke alarms not working.
“Detectors are a normal electronic product, and after a certain amount of time it will fade, you do need to have modern smoke detectors we recommend something within 10 years, you can get those at any Home Depots, Lowes, any hardware store, if you have trouble getting them contact your local fire department or local American Red Cross can help you out with that at any time.” Greg Hodge, Captain of Bangor Fire Department, Remember to Change Your Batteries
Families are also reminded to plan an escape route in the case of a fire. Day Light Saving Time will end on Sunday so enjoy that extra hour of sleep.
