HAMPDEN – A Millinocket native being nationally recognized for her efforts to help foster children in Maine.
Sara Disselkamp was adopted as a child, and she has now dedicated her life to making blankets for children in foster care who are not as fortunate. She says that she wants to make sure every child has something to bring with them when they are constantly transitioning from home to home.
And while the non-profit “Something to Snuggle” has gained a lot of momentum around here, it has also caught the attention of Glamour Magazine. And now, they are recognizing her as Maine’s “Hometown Hero”.
“I still am really speechless and don’t really have words besides extremely blessed. I didn’t think something to snuggle would become as big as it has, so to have my name associated with my non-profit organization in a national magazine feels amazing.” Sara Disselkamp, Winner of Glamour’s Hometown Hero Award
The issue will hit stands next month.
If you would like to get involved with Sara’s mission, you can message her on her personal Facebook or on the “Something to Snuggle” page.
