AUGUSTA – A chilly and drizzly day during the Annual Veterans’ Day Observance Ceremony in Augusta. But rain or shine, the event went on!
The ceremony was held at the Togus VA hospital. A wreath laying, followed by a 21 gun salute and the playing of taps. Veterans, family members and others, coming together to show appreciation for all service men and women.
“It’s a big day, big day. It brings back a lot of memories for a lot of guys and gals and it’s an important day in the history of this nation. A lot of sacrifices made and still being made as we speak.” Gary Burns, Disabled American Veterans Member, Togus Remembers
“Throughout the year go ahead and show appreciation for what people do. Remember, veterans, we’re citizens too.” Jim Doherty, Togus VA Spokesman, Togus Remembers
About 100 people turned out for the ceremony.
