HAMPDEN – The Good Shepard Food Bank on Thursday showed off their new facility to community members.
The agency recently purchased the former Bangor Daily News printing plant in Hampden. The new location has 32,000 square feet of warehouse space and it will help the agency in its mission to end hunger in Maine.
The Good Shepard President, Kristen Miale, says the move will allow more storage needed to keep produce fresh for distribution.
“Maine grows an abundance of very healthy root crops including potatoes, carrots, onions, that when stored properly can last for months. our goal is to be able to extend the distribution season of Maine produce and have local produce year round for the families we serve.” Miale stated.
The Good Shepard Food Bank will transition to their new building at the start of next year.
