AUGUSTA- Roland Cummings has been found guilty of murder.
That’s the verdict handed down today, a week after the trial began in Augusta.
Prosecutors claimed Cummings killed 92 year old Aurele Fecteau in May of 2014.
They say he needed money to support his drug habit and that’s why he burglarized the Waterville home and stabbed Fecteau 16 times while he slept in his bed.
Cummings d-n-a was later found on the victims clothing and rings that had been stolen from the home.
The defense tried to point the finger at Fecteau’s own son as the real killer, but the jury didn’t buy it.
Along with murder, Cummings was also convicted of burglary and theft.
He’ll be sentenced at a later date.
