LEWISTON – Lewiston police are still investigating the death of a man who was hit by a car on Lisbon Street Wednesday night.
Police say 86-year-old Normand Rivard was wearing dark colored clothing when he crossed Lisbon Street and was hit.
The 25 year old driver pulled over and tried to help, but it was too late.
Friends tell us ‘Norm’ as they called him – was walking from his home on Lisbon Street to the Social Club right across the street, where he’s been a bartender for more than 45 years and was still working part time.
“Real gentleman he really was and ya know kept everybody in line all these years he really did, we just love him and we’re gonna miss him.” said Steve Morin a Friend of Rivard’s.
A memorial is planned for Monday, and after the service there will be a reception at the social club.
Speed and alcohol were not factors in this accident. Police are still finishing the accident report but again do not anticipate any criminal charges.
