Hermon – The mild winter and warmer temperatures this year has forced the owner of Hermon Mountain Ski Area to end the season early.
It closed on Sunday March 13th.
Owner, Bill Whitcomb, said they tried to stay open until the end of March, but were unable to.
“If you look at 20 years ago and this year, I would say this is the worst year.” said Whitcomb.
He said humidity made it difficult to make snow and when they did, they worked overtime to fill the ground, which cost them more money.
However, Whitcomb said business and season passes were up in sales.
He’s hoping for a better year next year.
