DOVER-FOXCROFT – Dana LaJoie was ordered to pay close to 1,000 dollars in fines at the conclusion of his trial in Dover Foxcroft.
Authorities said game wardens caught LaJoie illegally hunting in Piscatiquis County. They said he was up in a tree stand and apples had been placed on the ground to attract deer. He also wasn’t wearing blaze orange. That’s illegal.
LaJoie has been South Berwick’s police chief for most of the past 30 years.
The town manager has decided not to take any disciplinary action because he believed the hunting violation is a personal matter and it wasn’t in the performance of his job.
Now that he has been found guilty it’s not clear what will happen with him in regard to the town.
