CARMEL– A local library will finally be getting the upgrades it deserves in order to keep up with current times.
The library in Carmel was incorporated in 1925 after the Simpson family donated both the land and the building.
Becky Ames, the librarian who has worked at the Simpson Library nearly ten years, said that without a bathroom, she was limited to the amount of programs she could hold within the building for liability reasons. The new renovations will include a bathroom, as well as a storage closet, bigger windows, and a cathedral inspired ceiling.
Over four hundred thousand dollars were donated to these renovations from the community.
The building will now be one thousand feet, which is double the size of the current building. This will allow the library the ability to provide a youth space, as well as an adult reading room.
