AUGUSTA – Maine Maritime Academy is celebrating 75 years! Yesterday Maine’s governor and others gathered at the State House to show their appreciation to the hard working men and women at the college.
Maine Maritime celebrated 75 years Wednesday at the State House in Augusta.
“Founded March 21st, they graduated first class in 1943 including my dad.” said Bill Brennan, president of Maine Maritime Academy.
Many came to thank students and alumni for their service, notable guests including Mike Thibbideau, Mark Eves and Governor LePage, who said about the students “We ought to appreciate them more.”
This came at a hard time for Maine Maritime having seen difficult times in these past few months with the loss of El Faro and the search continuing for David Bruenig.
Maine Maritime continues to excel not only in Maine, but around the country they were ranked the #1 best public college on Money Magazine’s best colleges list in 2014 and 2015.
