BREWER – Residential and business developments are moving forward in Brewer.
The former Brewer Middle School is being converted into affordable housing and is being billed as one of the most environmentally friendly apartment buildings in the state.
The City of Brewer is also working to become a hub for business activity
Brewer Economic Director D’arcy Main-Boyington said, “Well, we have a whole lot of things going on this spring. It’s really exciting. We’ve got a bunch of new restaurants. We have a taste of sunshine in Maine. That’s a Cuban sandwich shop that opened on Main Street just a few weeks ago. We have Mason’s Brewing that’s coming along nicely. They’re going to being brewing next month. So we’re very excited about that.”
Construction of a new parking lot as well as improvements to the city swimming pool, playground and recreational facilities will also take place. Those projects are expected to cost about half-a-million dollars.
