SHERMAN – A spectacular fire kept fire crews busy in Sherman. That’s where a man is lucky to be alive after flames erupted in a home on the Gallison Road.
State fire marshal’s tell us the call for help came in around six last night. A man was inside the home when the fire started and tried to escape from the first floor. But the flames and heat were too intense and he couldn’t get out. He ended up going back upstairs where he found a way to safely exit the building.
We’re told the homes basement was full of firewood which made it more difficult to snuff out.
At this point it’s still unclear what started the fire. Officials said the damage is so severe they may never know the cause.
They hope interviews conducted today will give them some clues.
