Today the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs celebrated the 50th Anniversary of National Vietnam Veterans Day. They to celebrated by “welcoming” the Veterans home.
AUGUSTA– Veterans were finally received a “Welcome Home” ceremony, something that many never had after returning from war.
Governor LePage, as well as Representatives from Congress, spoke at the event, showing their appreciation for Veterans Service to our country.
Many Veterans were emotional after the ceremony, some saying that they are still haunted by images they saw during the war. Charles Dennet, a Vietnam Veteran, said that he recommends Togus to any veteran dealing with hardship.
The war is something that Veterans live with everyday, many are still healing. This ceremony helped some get the recognition they’ve always wanted from returning home from the war.
