PORTLAND – Portland Police are investigating the death of a man who jumped or fell from a sixth floor window at Maine Medical Center.
That man is identified as 43-year-old Paul Cady a patient at the hospital..
His family tells our media partner CBS 13 that he was not suicidal. And that this was the result of a brain injury. They say he was in a car accident earlier this month which put him in a coma.
According to his daughter, he was making progress, but had a long road of recovery.
Portland police say Cady fell from a 6th story window of the Richards Building and died immediately. His death is not being considered suspicious.
Maine Medical Center declined to comment because of the on-going police investigation.
Maine’s Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services who handles the regulations in place for window construction in Maine’s hospitals is also investigating.
