BANGOR – A bit of a friendly competition at Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC), when the school hosted its annual Maine Trivia Tournament.
Ready. Set. Go. The questions are asked and it’s time to race against time to answer them.
“This is a real nice social event that folks come together and compete,” said Executive Director, Jennifer Khavari. “There’s some healthy competition going on here tonight but our first place winners get a five hundred dollars cash prize and each will walk away with a beautiful trophy.”
The annual event is presented by Emera Maine and brings community members together for a fun yet competitive game of trivia.
“This is our second year of sponsoring and we know the community college has some great programs,” said Tim Pease, an Emera Maine worker. “It’s a great school, so we wanted to come and support the efforts tonight.”
“We’re here together to support what they have together EMCC and to make sure that we can help out and donate in any way that we can,” said Kevin Prentice, media sales for The Maine Edge. “So we’re here doing trivia to support the school, with scholarships and stuff like that.”
“If we win we will donate everything back to the college, it’s the right thing to do and we’re confident that we are going to win,” said Pease.
Last year’s winners brought in their trophy.
“We’re here to defend our title from last year and hopefully raise some money for the school,” said Jon Hunter, one of the members of last year’s winning team.
The winners will receive check prize of $500 dollars.
