LEWISTON – 21-year-old Sarah Vye pleaded not guilty to a charge of animal cruelty.
People around the state were outraged in January when someone dropped off a dog outside the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston.
Security cameras recorded the event as the driver abandoned the dog and drove away even though workers were still inside the facility. The dog ended up getting hit by a car and died.
Vye now faces a sentence of up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to 2,000 dollars.
