LINCOLN– Since Mattanawcook Academy was built in 1974, and has yet to replace its roof.
With the frequent snow we have here in Maine, the exterior of the building has taken a beating.
The Revolving Renovation Fund, a DOE program occurring every five years to assist school districts with safety and compliance renovations, was taking a vote Wednesday in the Gymnasium to ask tax payers to vote for the replacement.
The facility director seemed optimistic that this would pass.
The state would pay for 62% of the roof. The vote is to ask for a ten year loan to take out two hundred and fifty three thousand dollars in taxes for the rest.
