AUGUSTA – It looks like Mainer’s wont be asked to consider whether a casino should be built in Southern Maine after all.
A superior court judge has sided with the Secretary of State who invalidated a number of petition signatures needed to get the issue on the November ballot. The court ruled there was nothing the Secretary of State did that requires a reversal of his decision to reject the petition.
Meanwhile, the courts are also being asked to weigh in on the secretary’s rejecting of another petition drive calling or the legalization of marijuana.
No word on when that decision will be announced.
