AUGUSTA – The Maine House and Senate voted to provide funding to the state’s county jails.
The bill advanced and would give about 2.4 million dollars .
It now faces additional action in both the House and Senate. Meanwhile, the senate has also approved a number of spending measures that are waiting for the governor’s signature.
They include an act to modernize and rehabilitate courthouses.
The Senate also enacted a veteran services bill which will address homelessness among vets and will also help them transition into college.
