BREWER – Back to school is just weeks away and Maine teachers are gearing up for the new year.
Wednesday, they were getting some help from the Maine Department of Education’s literacy team…
The departments literacy team held special workshops Wednesday to increase teachers understanding of routines and strategies, which can have the biggest impact on students achievement. The hope is for teachers to leave with ways of becoming more efficient inside the classroom.
Morgan Dunton, speaker said “I want teachers to feel empowered and encouraged. I want them to feel they can do the work that’s put upon them. Capacity is a huge issue. We’re being asked to do tons of things that really do stress capabilities as well as our abilities.”
The Department of Education put on this work shop at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer.
