STATEWIDE – It’s official there will be ballot recounts for two referendum questions that passed by narrow margins on election day.
Opponents of both Questions 1 and 2 turned in the materials needed yesterday to officially request the recount.
Question 1 legalizes marijuana here in the state and passed by a little more than 4,000 votes.
Question 2 which taxes wealthier Mainer’s to help fund Maine schools passed by more than 9,500 votes.
It will now be up to the Secretary of State’s Office to coordinate the delivery of ballots from around the state and schedule the recount to take place.
It’s expected to cost more than a $.5 million.
