NEW SHARON – A New Sharon woman who was prohibited from owning animals has been found guilty of violating a court order.
Carol Murphy, 72, was convicted Wednesday following a day long trial in Franklin County.
Murphy received a lifetime ban on keeping animals after being convicted of animal cruelty in 2004. That was after authorities seized dozens of neglected animals from her property.
She was also convicted of animal cruelty and other charges again in 2010 when authorities discovered she was keeping more than 40 animals at her home. Her latest problems with the law happened in 2014 when neighbors spotted Murphy walking dogs in the area.
A search of her home by authorities turned up several dogs, rabbits and other animals, all in various stages of health.
Murphy will now face a sentence of almost a year in jail
