MOUNT DESERT ISLAND – Heightened security at MDI High School Friday.
The building will stay locked down during school hours due to the release of an inmate with an indirect tie to the school.
Members of the Bar Harbor Police Department are expected on campus and all students must remain indoors until the end of the day.
Classes and after school activities will go on as planned.
In a letter sent to the school community, Principal Matt Haney said this is a proactive response and there is no specific or credible threat.
