BANGOR – Bangor police have arrested a suspect who allegedly assaulted a 27-year-old man from Ethopia Friday night.
Police have announced 42-year-old Joshua Pendergast was arrested today.
Officials say the arrest came after interviews with the victim and on-scene bystanders.
The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Friday in the area of Essex and Somerset streets.
A Facebook post made by an eye witness said that the man was dressed in a suit and tie, smelled of alcohol, and carried a plastic cup. The witness went on to say that the man punched the victim in the face, throwing him to the ground while yelling that “Trump would deport him.”
The victim was not seriously hurt.
Pendergast is expected to appear in court on December 21st.
