BANGOR– Although Maine is known as “Vacationland”, its no surprise that many of these tourists only come during the warm summer months.
So how does a business running purely on frozen treats get business?
Rumor has it, Scoop isn’t the only one who likes frozen yogurt
“Scoop is the boy mascot and cookies is the girl, we love to see people of all age’s faces” said owner of Sweet Frog, Doug Reed.
The Sweet Frog branch off of Stillwater opened in 2013, and despite being the only frozen yogurt franchise in the state, they were ranked one of the best stores out of all 350 locations. “We were the number one store in the portfolio of all the other stores from 2013-2014” said Reed
But how does a frozen yogurt store stay open in the frigid temperatures of winter months? Reed accounts this for working with other area businesses to entice customers to come in, saying they’ve partnered with Texas Road House, as well providing gift cards for people who come in.
He also says location, and customer service has also helped. “The biggest thing we have here, is we just try to keep it fun here year round. Smiles are free here at Sweet Frog.”
