ELLSWORTH – Typically people visit family members during Thanksgiving, but those in Ellsworth celebrated the holiday in a different way.
Community members gathered at the Elks Lodge for the 6th Annual Free Dinner. It was not not just for those in need but people wanting to not be alone were also welcomed to enjoy the meals – and it takes a lot of volunteers.
“It’s important because you don’t want people going around hungry,” said Don Clark, the organizer, “You don’t want them to be lonely on the holidays because the holidays is pretty much the worst time of year for the lonely people.”
This is just one of many events hosted for the community. There will be a similar event for the Christmas season, which will be dedicated to giving gifts for those in need.
