AUGUSTA – A recount for one of Maine’s approved referendum questions has been called off.
The Secretary of States Office said the recount request for Question 2 has been withdrawn. The new law taxes wealthier Mainers to help fund education.
Question 2 passed by a little more than 9,500 votes.
The recount for Question 1, the legalization of marijuana for recreational use, will still start on Monday. That law passed by a little more than 4,000 votes. The recount for Question 1 could take several weeks.
