BANGOR – Giving Tuesday, a time to give back to charitable organizations, can go well beyond its given date each year.
More on how local organizations can still use your help.
Stacy Coventry, Director of Development at The Bangor Humane Society said “What sometimes people forget is that every dollar here stays local.”
Giving Tuesday is a reason to donate to your favorite organizations during the holidays. At the Bangor Humane Society small kittens and playful pups can use your help.
“It helps local pets so we’re not part of any national agency, we don’t get any funding from the government or any national agency.” added Coventry.
The society helps over 3,000 animals with a $1 million budget and every dollar helps care for these furry friends.
Another non-profit looking for your help this holiday is the Challenger Learning Center of Maine.
“A lot of people don’t realize we are a non profit here although we use NASA programming we are not NASA funded.” said Education Director, Jennifer Therrien.
Instead they rely on their own finances to fund the work that they do.
“Like many non profits we have an annual giving fund to help sustain our program to make sure we can continue to inspire kids.” added Therrien.
Donations help to bring in even more students, run family nights and camps and keep the facility going.
So from furry friends to far out in space there are many ways to give back this giving Tuesday.
