STATEWIDE – Maine Game Wardens respond to multiple calls every year for injured animals and those suspected of carrying diseases such as rabies.
Now thanks to a grant from the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund wardens will be a little safer.
It will allow wardens to buy specialized gloves protecting them while handling animals.
Last year they responded to close to 3,000 reports of injured animals and another 105 calls for animals suspected of having rabies.
They said these new gloves will make it safer to deal with these animals. .
