EDDINGTON – State Police have made three arrests following a pair of burglaries. They believe they have the men responsible for stripping copper piping from homes in Eddington and Clifton. The first report came in Monday when a homeowner discovered his property had been broken into and the piping stolen. What the crooks didn’t realize is the owner had installed a game camera outside the home which captured images of the suspects. That prompted tips from the public.
While investigating those tips, police say they received another report of stolen copper pipes from a home in Clifton. That home was under construction at the time. The trail eventually led police to three suspects who were arrested for the burglaries. They include a father and two sons from Hermon identified as 45 year old John Oliva jr., 26 year old John Oliva lll and 24 year old James Oliva. All three are charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
Troopers believe other vacant properties were also broken into and the crimes haven’t been reported. They’re asking owners to check their properties and to report anything suspicious.
