STATEWIDE – Wildlife advocates are offering $19,000 if you have any information on the death of two Canadian Lynx.
The killings happened last month …
The Canadian Lynx is listed as a threatened animal on the endangered species list.
The Wildlife Alliance of Maine said there’s confusion with the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife on the lynx population.
Daryl Dejoy Executive Director of WAM said “That’s saying things like 11 lynx were killed by cars this year, therefore the population is going up. That’s basing the deer population on road kill, or essentially that is basing the lynx population on road kill and that’s very inaccurate.”
The Center for Biological Diversity said illegal killings can result in fines up to $100,000 and up to one year in prison.
