ETNA – A man is recovering Friday morning after his car crashed into a tractor trailer in Etna.
According to the Etna fire department, a man was traveling southbound in a small sedan on I – 95 when he ended up underneath a tractor trailer truck.
The driver said he was having a sneezing attack when he accidentally drove into the back of the eighteen-wheeler he was following, getting trapped.
The car became trapped underneath the truck and rescue crews say it was dragged nearly 1,000 yards before the truck came to a stop. Luckily the man was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure with non-life threatening injuries.
Etna Fire Chief Aaron Brown said it could have been much worse.
Chief Brown said “The rear tires actually went about halfway up on the passenger side. The driver, his whole compartment was pretty much unscathed. He was very lucky.”
Traffic had to be diverted off the interstate near Exit 167 while crews cleared the scene.
