AUGUSTA – Two people had to be rushed to the hospital following a crash that ripped a car in two.
It happened just after 6:00 p.m. Thursday on Townsend Road.
Police said a car driven by a man from Gardiner went off the road and struck several trees. Both he and a passenger were brought to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
According to the Morning Sentinel, police believe speed and alcohol caused the wreck.
Andrew Lufkin, 35, has been issued summonses for driving to endanger and drunk driving.
