TURNER – One man is dead after a fire early Saturday morning in Turner.
Officials said the fire started around 2 a.m. on Jordan Lane.
Neighbors said they called 911 right away when the fire woke them up.
State police stated John Jordan, 69, was only one who lived in the home and died in the fire.
Family members were there along with fire crews to survey the damage.
Officials said the extreme cold temperatures made fighting the fire much more difficult.
Sergeant Joel Davis, Maine State Fire Marshals Office, stated “A lot of the determination is going to be done by interviews and talking to people that were in the home last to find out where things were, what could have went wrong, what problems there were in the home before the fire that they noted and obviously we’ll look at the scene to try to come up with something also.” (
Officials said there were several heaters in the home, but state police said the cause will likely never be found because of the excessive damage to the home.
