BANGOR – Hollywood Casino’s newest food sculpture is now on display.
The canned food puppy, part of the casino’s 7th annual food sculpture helping United Way’s Pantry Project can now be seen in the hotel’s entrance to the casino.
The art was designed by Allison Strange, a graduate of the ‘Fine Arts of Intermedia Program” at the University of Maine.
The display is made from nearly 1,700 cans of Campbell Soup and about 80 Folger’s coffee packets.
After the holiday season the canned food will be donated to the United Way Pantry Project.
Spokesman Dan Cashman said “January, February, March, that’s when those pantry shelves tend to run a bit dry. So it’s extremely important to give during those months of the year because people are still in need and perhaps sometimes more so after Christmas and the New Year because it is so cold and people are still hungry.”
The casino is also asking it’s own employees to donate food.
