AUGUSTA – The official results are in for question one, a referendum question that calls for the legalization of marijuana for people 21 and older.
The measure passed on election day by a little more than 4,000 votes.
The opponents called for a recount which was called off over the weekend when it became clear it wouldn’t change the outcome of the race.
Here are the official numbers. 381,768 people voted in favor of legalized pot, while 377,773 were against it.
The difference narrowed to 3,995 votes as a result of a recount, but it’s clear legalized pot is the winner.
It now goes to the Governor for his signature and will become law 30 days after the Governor issues an official proclamation of the results.
