BANGOR – A man from Millinocket appeared before a judge today, accused of burglarizing a home on Smith Pond.
Jason Cummings, 33, is facing charges including burglary, criminal mischief and eluding an officer.
Authorities said the owner arrived home Monday to discover her home had been broken into. A safe had been moved and other property was missing or disturbed.
About an hour later a police officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration and became suspicious when he noticed the driver had wet pants and a number of household items in the car.
Officials said while the officer was preparing to photograph those items, Cummings bolted and tried to get away, but was quickly apprehended.
He’s now being held on $50,000 bail.
