PORTLAND (WGME) – Residents of a Portland apartment complex were displaced by a fire that broke out Monday night.
It happened on Cumberland Avenue just before 8 p.m.
All 11 people who live in the building were accounted for and there were no reported injuries. One woman at the scene says the fire started in her apartment stove, but investigators are working to determine the exact cause.
Officials say the fire damaged the exterior of three other building in the area.
A second floor resident of the apartment complex said she called 9-1-1. “I really panicked and my mom gave me the phone to call the police and i was really stressed out and i was crying and all and I just didn’t know, I was just thinking about everything that was inside.” she said.
Officials said The Red Cross is working to assist those who were displaced.
