VASSLEBORO – The town of Vassalboro is the latest community to ban businesses that sell marijuana.
With recreational marijuana scheduled to become legal at the end of the month, many communities are considering moratoriums or outright bans on establishments that sell pot.
Some people at last nights meeting were concerned the vote was taken before the legislature has a chance to consider how best to regulate the sale of marijuana in Maine. But others feel businesses that sell pot isn’t what they want to see in Vassalboro.
Residents of Clinton will consider a similar measure when they gather at a meeting tonight.
In the meantime, lawmakers are still considering whether a moratorium should be put in place to give the state more time to prepare for legal marijuana.
