BANGOR – The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce honors their members and volunteers for all their work through the year.
The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce recognizes their volunteers at their annual breakfast Wednesday morning. The chamber took the time to recognize Carrie Meo as “Volunteer of the Year.”
“That’s unique and that’s voted on only by the staff so that’s the person that helps out the actually staff that most so that a really special award when you get that.” said Board Chair Lee Speronis.
Keynote speaker Chris Kilgour told his story of success from buying his first business at 19 years old to owning a global organization based in Bangor.
And Machias Savings Bank topped off the event with a donation to a deserving local charity.
Deb Neuman, chamber CEO stated “63 non-profits were named and suggested and the winner was the Bangor YMCA and we appreciate how much they do to support not only the chamber but the community as a whole.”
“t was fun because people got to talk and people got to advocate for their own charity that they wanted to go for.” added Machias Savings Bank Brewer branch Manager, Ken White.
Machas Savings Bank donates over a half million dollars to local non-profits in the greater Bangor area through the year. Charlen Cates, Machias Savings Bank community relations director, said “Even as we make those donations its important to get everybody opinion on what really is building this community.”
They also elected new board members and honored the outgoing.
