BANGOR – A silent auction to raise funds for bird rehabilitation is happening in Bangor.
Its called “Taking Flight” and will be held at the Rock and Art Shop. The auction will support 26 local artists who have created bird themed works of art.
Over fifty percent of the donations will go to Avien Haven, the largest non profit wild bird rehabilitation center in New England. They see about t2,000 birds each year, and more than 100 species.
Owner Annette Dodd said “They take in all species of wild birds. If they’re injured, they get them repaired and get them back to the wild. If they’re orphaned, they actually nurse them until theyre ready to go on their own. They’re a great facility and they’re completely non profit so they operate completely on donations.”
There will be a reception and talk hosted at the Rock and Art Shop on January 20th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the auction will close on February 10th.
