BLUE HILL – Blue Hill Memorial Hospital has made an investment that will benefit people throughout the area.
It has begun using a new state-of-the art computed tomography scanner, also known as a cat scan.
The new equipment will allow the staff to look into a persons body to evaluate injuries, detect cancers and more. It also uses less radiation and provides better images than the previous equipment.
Cardiologist Dennis Desilvey, M.D. said “Anything that improves my diagnostic accuracy. One has to be very selective picking the right test, for the right person; for the right indication. And having this capability will enable me a lot more to do that with patients in a much more focused way.”
Hospital officials said the new investment marks the beginning of several improvement projects slated to take place.
