ORRINGTON – An elderly man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after crashing into a house in Orrington.
It was around 2:00 p.m. when Vaughn Lowell, 89, of Bucksport was traveling on Route 15. For some reason, his vehicle suddenly went off the road and crashed into a home, knocking it loose from it’s foundation.
The big concern at that point was for Vaughn who was reportedly still trapped in the vehicle and the car was smoking.
Cpl Chad Young of the Penobscot Sheriff Department said “On the way it was definitely a concern. It came in reported that way. When we got here there was no smoke so things had calmed down at that point.”
Police suspect suffered some sort of a medical emergency that caused him to lose control.
There was no one home when the vehicle crashed into a bedroom wall.
Rescuers said the crash moved the entire home from its foundation and the code enforcement officer will be called in to inspect the damage to make sure the home is structurally sound.
